Where to see local fireworks displays this weekend

By Mark Gorton at

It’s fireworks and bonfire time again – here’s a selection of sparkling and banging events to attend tonight and at the weekend:

Hoylake

This evening Hoylake Sailing Club hosts its Annual Bonfire & Fireworks on the beach from 6pm.

The bonfire will be lit around 18:00 followed by the firework display from around 18:30. The Clubhouse bar will be open from 17:00 onward, and hot food (burgers & hotdogs) and drinks will also be available. Run in aid of the RNLI.

NB 1 North Parade is an alcohol free zone.
NB 2 The bonfire will be smaller than usual to prevent the large tide at 22:00 spreading the embers over the beach.

Fireworks at Hoylake Sailing Club

Bebington

Mayer Park is the setting for tomorrow night’s community fireworks display.  Entry is free and all are welcome and the fiery fun starts at 6.15pm.

Burton

Tomorrow Burton Fireworks begin with fairground attractions at 5pm, the bonfire at 6.30pm and fireworks at 7.30pm. There’ll be hot dogs on offer along with tea and coffee – and if you’d like something a little stronger the bar in the Sports Club will be open. Parking in Burton village is limited, but it is possible to find spaces at Burton Manor and Bishop Wilson School. Entrance costs £6 for adults, £4 for 3 to 12 year olds, while the under 3s get in for free. No sparklers please to reduce the risk of accidents.

West Kirby

West Kirby Sailing Club will run its 72nd annual fireworks display on Saturday 4th November, starting at 18.30.

The event, which has run every year since 1946, started just after the last war, for club members’ children, and to form bonds with  the local community.

Every year thousands of people gather on the waterfront to watch the spectacular show, which is run in aid of the local RNLI.

River of Light

River of Light is returning to the River Mersey on Sunday 5th November 2017 from 6.30pm with a special firework display.

This year they have teamed up with Capital Liverpool, Liverpool’s number one hit music station, who will be providing the soundtrack for the evening.

One of UK’s most successful firework companies Titanium Fireworks will take the helm, and the skies above the River Mersey will be lit up in a way that has never been seen before at this year’s event.

You can view the fireworks from New Brighton promenade from 6.30pm but pre-show entertainment will start from 4pm.

A big thank you to the man without whom none of this would have been possible, Guy Fawkes
